Terry, Mississippi
Terry, Mississippi is a small town with an estimated population of around 1,063 residents. Established in 1811, Terry began to grow when the Illinois Central Railroad built a depot in the town in 1867. The town boasts two parks within its borders with playgrounds for children, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, and walking tracks.
Terry is and has been home to local celebrities such as Albert Gallatin Brown, the 14th Governor of Mississippi; Rickey Cole, the former chairman of the Mississippi Democratic Party; Luster Wills, a folk-art painter; and finally blues musician Tommy Johnson, who claimed he sold his soul to the devil in the town in exchange for success and money.
Terry’s public school system is within the Hinds County School District.
